CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILY MINISTRIES
Dear Friends,
If you haven’t already seen it, this is the new logo for our parish. You will begin to see it on all of our publications, both printed as well as on line. With time and repeated usage, it will begin to point people to us. When people see it I hope they will think to themselves (or, better yet, tell someone else), “I know that church. It’s the one on Beacon Street — the one with the rich worship life, the outstanding choirs, the vibrant ministries with kids — the church that shares itself with the community and is making a difference in people’s lives.”
I have to admit, when I first saw it, I wasn’t sure I liked it.(Some-times it’s hard to embrace something new, isn’t it?) But it’s growing on me, and I’m glad for that. I want everyone to know what a fabulous church we are. I want everyone to know how we are “striving side by side with one mind for the faith of the gospel,” to quote St. Paul. Our new logo does a nice job of depicting our community gathered side-by-side under the cross of Christ. I like that it’s not a solid wall, but a porous facade. There’s room for everyone here. Yes!
Our new logo is a wonderful tool we can use to grow our church. But “living our daily lives in a manner worthy of the gospel” (again, to quote St. Paul) is the best way to help make God’s reign of love and justice manifest here and now. Thank goodness we have each other, and we have Christ leading us. Thank goodness we have the Spirit to give us what we need to do this.
Grace and peace to you.
