STEWARDSHIP EPISTLE BY WENDY WHEELER
FROM SERVICE ON OCTOBER 23, 2022
Good morning. My name is Wendy Wheeler and I’ve been pledging to All Saints for 28 years.
I could share many reasons why I pledge, but this morning I’ll focus on Community Support at All Saints. One of my favorite prayers – or maybe it’s a poem – is one that’s been attributed to St. Teresa of Avila.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours,
No hands but yours,
No feet but yours.
Yours are the eyes through which Christ’s compassion must look out on the world.
Yours are the feet with which he is to go about doing good.
Yours are the hands with which he is to bless others now.
That prayer, and my ongoing faith journey, gives me the inspiration to share my blessings with others. And All Saints gives me the opportunities. Every week there is something that our community is doing to reach out to others who are food insecure, inadequately housed, or who are considered marginalized in any way. Being part of this community constantly encourages me to be more of what God envisions for me, and to find the joy in that process by doing it with all of you. I can’t imagine not continuing to give my support to All Saints given all that I receive in return. I hope you’ll all join me in pledging whatever you can to continue to support our own and the broader community.
