Our hope is to accompany children, youth and adults as they experience the love of God individually and communally and to support everyone in building a spiritual foundation to draw on as they create lives of meaning and purpose in the world. This requires a safe environment.
Our commitment to create, promote, and maintain a safe environment for everyone in our parish is tied to our baptismal promises to “respect the dignity of every human being” and to “seek and serve Christ in all people” (Book of Common Prayer, pages 304-5). By enforcing the safeguards of both the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Constitution and Canons of the Episcopal Church we ensure that our church is a safe haven for all of God’s people who gather here.
Staff and volunteers are screened and trained according to our policies for the Protection of Children and Youth and the Protection of Vulnerable Adults. Screening for some positions consists of a public records check. For other positions there are additional screening requirements of a written application, interview, and reference verification.
All staff and elected leaders have training that fosters a culture of safety and inclusion for all people and covers a broad overview of issues of vulnerability, power, and healthy boundaries. Everyone at All Saints has access to this training, and are encouraged to take it. This training is designed to equip all people to live out their Baptismal Covenant.
Everyone with oversight responsibilities for ministry programs and/or who engages in ministry with children and youth, and/or vulnerable adults is provided with specialized training that is tailored to their role and ministry function.
