The Donald Teeters Memorial Music Fund
For decades, the choir and organ have been at the heart of All Saints Parish’s stellar music ministry, enriching worship and inspiring our community. Our current 1961 Casavant organ is now nearing the end of its life, and we have embarked on a vital effort to replace it with a vintage instrument of superior craftsmanship, better suited to our space and needs.
In fall 2025, the parish purchased Skinner Opus 435, an extraordinary vintage organ originally built in 1923 by the Skinner Organ Company and previously owned by Grant Memorial AME Church in Chicago. We are in the process of restoring it under the direction of Joseph Rotella of the Spencer Organ Company of Waltham, Massachusetts.
The new organ will be installed at the front of the church, under and around our beautiful Rose Window, designed by Charles Connick in 1925–1926. Before we can place the organ, however, the Rose Window requires substantial restoration. That work is slated to be completed by spring 2027. We are targeting 2028 for installation of the new Skinner organ.
Beyond serving our worshiping community, the organ and our sanctuary have been important resources for students and the many professional, semi-professional, and community music groups that rehearse and perform in our space. This new instrument will ensure the continued flourishing of music at All Saints for generations.
Your donation to the Donald Teeters Memorial Music Fund will support this project and honor our beloved music director of 47 years. Don Teeters (1936–2014) was a pillar of the Boston music community, serving All Saints from 1967 until his retirement in 2014. He likewise served as music director of the Boston Cecilia and on the faculty of the New England Conservatory. At All Saints, he built the choir into the cherished ensemble it is today and was a thoughtful liturgist, caring minister, and steady presence for decades.
