Each year we typically spend between $35,000 and $55,000 on needed building repair and maintenance (from the floors to the roof and everything in between). Every year we apply for grants to supplement building projects, usually receiving up to $20,000.
2012
- Together Now–a joint capital campaign with the Diocese of Massachusetts–raised $1.4 million (70% to All Saints; 30% to the diocese) for work on the sanctuary and renovation of the rectory. Collection of funds ran from 2013 to 2017
- Retirement of longtime rector David Killian
2014
- Welcomed Richard and his family
- Rectory renovation and construction of three (3) rental apartments (Together Now money for rectory; endowment loan for rental apartments—rent goes to repayment of the endowment loan)
- Restoration of the organ’s static reservoir
- Retirement and passing of longtime music director Donald Teeters
2015
- Beacon Street window and north wall work (Together Now)
- Accessibility: elevator was discussed; it was decided to improve access by re-landscaping the courtyard, adding a ramp and automatic door (funds raised through special appeal)
- Began intentionally and gradually raising rates for paid section leaders to bring them into line with Boston area standards
2016
- New sign at corner of Beacon Street and Dean Road
2017
- Capital Needs Assessment by Tom Nutt-Powell (Capital Needs Unlimited) noted, “High-efficient boilers are needed near-term”; investigation into heating upgrades began
- Retirement of Becky Taylor, Children, Youth, and Family Minister since 2006
2018
- Welcomed Stephan: combining Music Director and Schola Director positions, continuing investment in music ministry
- Exploration of multiple heating upgrades to the sanctuary to improve heat and environmental stewardship led to a decision to install high-efficiency boilers to provide heat to the church and Parish House while retaining the existing delivery system; wireless thermostats were added to better control the heat
2019
- Installed new floor in the kitchen and dining room
- Installed new carpeting on the main floor
- Replaced and upgraded the sanctuary lighting system
2020
- Welcomed Tammy: significant investment in Family Ministry
- Installed cameras, wiring, new microphones, soundboard, etc., to enable online streaming
- Gifts for God’s House (small, focused special appeal): Historic reredos restoration, purchased new chairs for the sanctuary and Advent altar hangings, refurbishment of “the rug” children’s area
- Installed new floors in the Corner Co-op area
- Deleaded the windows in the Corner Co-op area (to improve air circulation)
2021
- Gifts for God’s House continued
- Began multiyear replacement of aging fan coil units (delivering heat to sanctuary), one per year for the next four years
- Capital Needs Assessment by Tom Nutt-Powell noted, “Roof work is near term.”
2022
- Contracted with Judith Sewlyn (Preservation Technology) to assess the entire envelope of the church and Parish House, including the roof. This investigation determined “that the root cause of much of the observed water infiltration and masonry deterioration is ultimately the result of failure of the building’s oldest roof and gutter systems”
- Organ swell reed replacement
- Deleading of the third-floor apartment in the rectory
- Upgraded all lights in the Parish House for energy efficiency
- Contracted with Robert Olson (architect) for a complete set of building drawings in preparation for comprehensive roof and masonry analysis
