COURAGEOUS CONVERSATIONS
October 8, after church
We look forward to having you join us for our upcoming discussion and lunch in the Dining Room following the service next Sunday. Since the date will immediately precede indigenous peoples day, we are planning to show clips of a video to introduce related topics for discussion.
The video Rethinking Thanksgiving—A conversation with Larry Spotted Crow Mann is not very long, and you may want to watch it before our meeting. At this meeting, we will also discuss current initiatives of Episcopal City Mission (ECM) and their efforts to support social justice by sharing some of our existing resources as a parish with BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) communities as well as guidelines for hosting Reparations Sunday/Sabbath events and completing “Asset Maps.” In addition, Maggie Hogan will report on developing the possibility of “art counterprogramming” at All Saints which might involve, for example, having BIPOC artists produce complementary artwork that would respond to the themes of our stained-glass windows with a more racially inclusive lens.
