ADVENT AND CHRISTMAS SERVICES
We will celebrate the Feast of Saint Nicholas of Myra with a simple Eucharist in the Langdon Chapel, the lighting of a Christmas tree in the garden, and blessing winter items collected for the MANNA community.
3 December, 7 pm – Compline for the First Sunday of Advent
Traditionally sung by monks before sleep, Compline offers a half-hour of reflection and meditation—a sanctuary where you can immerse yourself in the tranquility of chanted prayers and anthems before restful sleep. December’s service will celebrate the start of new liturgical year with music from the Early American shape note and spiritual traditions.
17 December, 5 pm – Advent Lessons and Carols
As we prepare to welcome the Light that shines in the darkness, the All Saints Choir will sing a service of Lessons and Carols for Advent. Through the intertwined experience of scripture and music, the story of Christ’s advent gradually unfurls, enriching our comprehension of God’s message of love and redemption.
Join us in singing timeless advent carols along side music by James Bassi, Margaret Burk, Hugo Distler, Gabriel Jackson, James MacMillan, William Mundy, and Dobrinka Tabakova.
21 December, 6:30 pm – Service of Solace and Hope
For many this is not the most wonderful time of the year. Many of us carry grief and losses of all kinds into the Christmas season. Our annual Service of Solace and Hope is an opportunity for you to honor those hard, heavy feelings by placing them in the context of prayers, scripture, Holy Eucharist and healing prayers.
