LED BY THE SPIRIT
“Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God
Let Your gracious Spirit lead me on level ground.” Psalm 43:10
Together, through our commitment to meaningful worship, lifelong faith journeys, and community support, we are building a community of love and strengthening our awareness of God’s presence in our lives. This is what God is calling us to.
Entrust your giving decision to the voice of the Holy Spirit, who speaks to each of us as we follow on our journey of faith.
May every parishioner and family join the joyful procession, led by the Spirit toward the future God has planned for our parish and for each of us.

As a community of faith, we have these values:
- Welcome all seeking refuge, inspiration, and nourishing relationships with one another and with God.
- Provide a place devoted to creating beauty and experiencing God’s grace.
- Empower one another to act in service to others and to care for God’s creation
Our annual budget is how we financially commit to these values. Your pledges provide approximately 70% of our total income. We also have a conservatively managed endowment and receive income from facility use, but the greater our pledged income, the more we can live into these values.
The numbers below reflect our projected 2023 expenses; no doubt they will be higher in 2024. Each year more than 71% of our budget goes to supporting our outstanding staff and programs. Around 17% goes to maintaining our beautiful buildings and grounds. The rest goes to administration and diocesan support.
This narrative budget shows our commitment to our values as expressed in three primary categories: Worship, Lifelong Faith Journeys, and Community Support. We have proportioned staff salaries and benefits and program expenses among these categories so that you can see how we celebrate God’s work through these combined categories.
NARRATIVE BUDGET
WORSHIP
$353,000—50% of total budget
Worship is the heart of everything we do. It is where we are nourished and empowered to live our values in the world.
What inspires and nourishes us in worship?
• Engaging sermons combining spiritual depth and contemporary relevance with intelligence and wit.
• Beautiful music from a range of traditions sung by an exceptional volunteer choir and paid section leaders—we continue to diversify our music repertoire by including more works by women and people of color.
• People of every age participating fully in worship from small children playing in the rug area, to youth serving as acolytes, to adults taking on a variety of ministerial roles.
In addition to Sunday morning worship, we also offer a beautiful monthly sung Compline, seasonal Evensongs, and beloved services on high holy days. We reach even more people by livestreaming all our services.
LIFELONG FAITH JOURNEYS
$138,000—19% of total budget
As we worship and work together, we grow in faith. We invite everyone into lasting and life-changing relationships with God in Christ.
Family Ministry prioritizes the youngest; we want them to know that God loves them, the community loves them, and it is fun to be at church. As they grow, youth begin putting their faith into action through service in the parish and engagement beyond the parish.
Adults deepen their faith by journeying together in small groups: Choir, bible study, book groups, centering prayer, Daughters of the King, Courageous Conversations, and focused outreach activities.
For the past several years we have empowered people of all ages to act in service by reflecting on unconscious bias and systemic “-isms,” and by focusing on the local issues of food and housing insecurity.
COMMUNITY SUPPORT
$220,000—31% of total budget
Inspired by worship and empowered by one another to serve, we extend our support to local communities.
We support communities by lovingly preparing home-cooked meals for the unhoused in downtown Boston through the MANNA program and donating food and toiletries to the Brookline Food Pantry. We provide dozens of bags of groceries most months to families in need and participate in summer activities with children through partnership with St. Stephen’s in the South End and the B-SAFE program. We purchase Christmas gifts of toys and clothing for families living in the Crossroads family shelter in East Boston.
We provide a place for creating beauty and experiencing God’s grace by offering homes for the Corner Co-Op Nursery School, Boston Cecilia, the Brookline Symphony, the Evergreen Korean Church, Dean Road Drawing, and half a dozen recovery groups.
Finally, we support one another across all phases of life through healing ministry, dedicated prayer groups, and pastoral care.
