Remembering September 11: The Power of Faith, The Impact of the Arts. Exhibit of the art, architecture, music and literature of the world's religions, developed by Wright Salisbury of the Alliance for Jewish, Christian, and Muslim Understanding, Sunday, September 11 at 12 noon and Thursday, September 15 at 7:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served. No fee. Centering Prayer Group. Led by Peter Stringham and Martha Bullock. Sunday mornings, 9:15-10:15 am, beginning September 11. Centering Prayer is an ancient, yet contemporary practice of meditation in the sacred word tradition. Sessions will include time for lectio divina (prayerful meditation on sacred texts), prayer, and discussion. No fee. Women of Wisdom, facilitated by Nancy Corcoran, Thursdays, September 15 and 29, October 13 and 27, November 10, and December 1 and 15, 9:30 am-1:30 pm. This program is for women of all faith backgrounds who wish to come together to reflect on what they have learned in their life journeys, the spiritual transformations they have experienced, and the special rewards and trials of aging. $12 per session, including a delicious lunch. Soul at Work: Spiritual Leadership in Organizations, presented by Dr. Margaret Benefiel, Friday, September 16, 8:30 am-4:00 pm, at the Church on the Hill, 140 Bowdoin Street, Boston. This will be an experiential seminar, in which participants' own experiences in organizations will form the foundation for the day's reflections. Fee: $75; $65 for seniors and full-time students; $10 discount for all if full fee is received by September 9. Scholarship assistance is available; call the RUAH Office. Fee includes lunch and a copy of Dr. Benefiel's new book Soul at Work: Spiritual Leadership in Organizations. This program offers 6 Category I CEUs for social workers. Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, led by Ji Hyang Sunim, Wellness Consultant, Wellesley College, Thursday evenings, September 22 and 29; October 6, 13, 20, and 27; 7:00-8:30 pm Mindfulness is about being fully awake in our lives. This series will focus on stress reduction techniques including meditation, Tai Chi, and light yoga. Fee: $75 for series. Chinese Gungfu Style Tea Ceremony: Creating Peace and Harmony. Led by Patricia Warren. Thursday evenings, September 29, October 20, November 17, 7:00ñ8:30 pm. Come experience a harmonious atmosphere, respect for each other and the environment, purity of our hearts and minds, and the genuine serenity that arises when we have practiced harmony, respect and purity. The program can be repeated as many times as you wish. Fee: $30 per session. Gutsy Women in Scripture, presented by Mary Ann Figlino, CSJ, Saturday, October 1, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, at Wellesley College. Come, look between the lines and witness how culture, customs, and politics challenged the gutsy women about whom we read in the scriptures. Fee: $35 ($30 for RUAH members) Scholarship assistance available. Reiki Jin Kei Do Level One: Reiki in the Way of Wisdom and Compassion, led by Patricia Warren, Friday, October 14, 7:00-9:30 pm, and Saturday, October 15, Noon-5:30 pm. This first level course emphasizes Reiki as a powerful spiritual discipline. Classes will include lectures, discussions, meditation, and opportunities for practicing techniques. Fee: $175 for weekend ($165 for RUAH members). In Celebration of Rumi: Poetry, Music and Dance. Please join us for special programs of music, the dancing of dervishes, and inspiring readings from the work of 13th century Sufi mystic Jelaluddin Rumi, whose poetry is filled with a longing for God the Friend and the Beloved. The program will close with a traditional Dervish Zikr ceremony.
Tickets: $15; $7 for seniors and full-time students. Advance ticket purchase is recommended. Exploring the Enneagram and the Writings of David Hawkins with Rich Byrne, D.Min. Saturday, October 29, 9:30 am-1:30 pm. The Enneagram is an ancient and incredibly insightful tool for personal/spiritual growth. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of spiritual possibilities for themselves and the challenges they must address. Fee: $30 ($25 for RUAH members).
