Join Us Under the Mission Umbrella

The All Saints Mission and Outreach Committee is overflowing with fresh energy and enthusiasm!

In response to a proposal at the Spring Vestry Retreat, all the various parish mission/outreach projects have been gathered under a single "mission umbrella" so that budgeting and evaluation of all outreach activities is now the responsibility of the Mission and Outreach Committee. Revitalized under the leadership of vestry member Sue LeClaire, the committee is communicating with parishioners in new ways and planning several challenging all-parish mission projects for 2006.

Each Sunday the mission umbrella logo in This Week at All Saints highlights important information about the featured mission area of the month. In September, the featured mission was GBIO; in October, the featured mission is the St. John's Meal. November will feature the Brookline Food Pantry, and December's featured mission is the purchase of Christmas presents for families at the Crossroads Shelter. The weekly printed notices, combined with announcements during worship services, provide details about the wonderful work All Saints is already doing, including personal testimonies from parishioners about how mission and outreach work has deepened their faith and enriched their lives.

Year-end meetings of this Committee will include the selection of which local and regional organizations will receive donation checks from All Saints for 2005; the formation of a subcommittee to design an out-of-state mission project and an international mission project for 2006; and preliminary discussions about the allocation of funds from Surround the Spirit money earmarked for mission work.

Meetings of the Mission and Outreach Committee are open to all interested members of the All Saints community. If you would like to help with project planning or have general ideas to share, please email Leslie Sterling at AmmaLeslie@earthlink.net or Sue LeClaire at sleclaire@comcast.net or call the parish office at 617-738-1810. Join us under the Mission Umbrella. We are changing the world!
